Second Semester Exam Schedule and Key Procedures 📚⏳
Finish the Year Strong.
Chippewa Jr./Sr. High School will administer second-semester exams on May 27 and 28. Here is everything families need to know about schedules, expectations, and student options for exam days.

The final weeks of the academic year have arrived, and it is time for students at Chippewa Jr./Sr. High School to prepare for their second semester exams. This period serves as the capstone to a year of growth, allowing students to demonstrate the knowledge they have gained since January.
Our Chipps have shown remarkable dedication and academic effort throughout the spring. These final exams provide the perfect opportunity for students to showcase their mastery of the curriculum and finish their courses with excellence before heading into the summer break.
About the Exams
• Every course will administer an exam or summative assessment appropriate to the nature of the class (traditional test, project, performance task, etc.).
State Test Incentives: If a student has already passed their state test for a specific subject, they are exempt from taking the second-semester exam for that course. However, any student who wishes to take the exam to improve their grade may still choose to do so. Students should see their state-tested area teacher to confirm whether they are required to take the exam.
• Grading: Each exam counts as 20% of the semester grade, ensuring consistent impact without overinflating or minimizing any single assessment.
Exam Dates
Wednesday, May 27: Periods 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8
Thursday, May 28: Periods 1, 3, 5, 6, and 7

Exam Procedures & Expectations
Chippewa’s goal is for semester exams to demonstrate true understanding—not rushed or minimized, but meaningful reflections of student learning. While the work is rigorous, the schedule also includes time for students to reset or quietly prepare for the next day.
Buses will continue to run on the regular schedule, so students arriving late and/or leaving early will need to arrange their own transportation home.
Families can review the full exam plan below
When do students arrive on exam days?
Standard Arrival: Students who have an exam during the first testing block of the day must arrive at the normal start time: 7:27 AM.
Late Arrival Option for Students That Passed their State Test: If a student has passed their state test and is not taking the exam for their early-period classes, they may arrive late to school. They must report to school in time for the first period in which they actually have an exam to take.
- Example: If a student passed the Biology state test (tested in Period 2) on Wednesday, they do not need to arrive until Period 4.
- Verify with Teachers: Students must see their state-tested area teacher to confirm their exemption status before planning to arrive late.
- Checking In: All students arriving late must check in through the main office/designated entrance upon arrival.
How do students get permission to leave early on exam day?
Exam Permission Sheets (Colored Paper): Students will be given a colored sheet of paper to fill out with their specific exam schedule. Please look for this coming home. Once filled out and signed by a parent, this sheet will serve as the official signed note required for late arrival or early release on exam days. This sheet is due back signed no later than May 26.
Any student who does not have parent-guardian permission will remain in the school for the entire day and attend the Post-Exam Study after the last exam period of the day. We will be on Bell Schedule N for exams.
When do students leave if they have permission?
If the final exam of the day is:
• Period 1 or 2: leave at 8:30 AM
• Period 3 or 4: leave at 9:33 AM
• Period 7 or 8: leave at 10:36 AM
• Period 5 (Jr. High only): leave at 11:42 AM
• Period 6: leave at 12:48 PM
What if a student has a space or gap between exams?
Students may not leave and return later in the day. There is no coming and going.
For example:
If a student has an exam in Period 1 and their next exam isn’t until Period 6, they may not:
• Leave after Period 1
• Go home
• Return for Period 6
They must:
• Attend their normally scheduled classes, study halls, Lunch/WIN, etc.
• Stay in their exam room until the bell, even if they finish early
• Leave only after their final exam of the day with proper parent/guardian permission
Post-Exam Study Period
Students who stay at school after completing their final exam (and are not leaving early) will report to the cafeteria for a supervised study space until dismissal. This setting is designed to provide a calm environment for students to decompress or prepare for the next day.
We’re proud of the hard work our students have shown this semester, and we’re excited to see them take this final step with confidence. Thank you for your support and partnership as we close out the semester and look ahead to a strong start in the new year!
